About Tom

Tom Stewart was born in 1972 and began piping at the age of 13. Since then he has performed in America, Canada, Ireland, France, Holland and Spain. He has also played for highland dancers in Brittany, France and La Coruna, Spain.

Tom was a part of the Grade 2 band Wallacestone & District Pipe Band in the late 80's/early 90's. In 1989 they were Scottish, British, and Cowal Champions and came 6th in the World Championships. In the following year they were again Scottish, British and Cowal Champions and just missed out on being crowned World Champions by finishing 2nd. In the same year - 1990 - they were awarded the title Champion of Champions in Grade 2. The following year Tom played in Grade 1 with the band.

In 1995, Tom also had a short spell in Shott's & Dykehead - one of the most successful civilian pipe bands in history who have won every major piping and drumming championship available numerous times over.

In 1998 & 1999, Tom taught the bagpipes in North Carolina, USA. During his time in America he travelled to Charleston - South Carolina, Atlanta - Georgia, Charlottesville - Virginia, Nashville - Tennessee & New York where he played underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Tom also travelled to Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada.

Since then, he has predominantly worked as a solo piper performing at weddings, funerals, special occasions and corporate functions.
